Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted (Musselmalet Riflet); a large, early mug featuring a silver lid topped with a lion and a gilded medallion. The porcelain has the greyish hue characteristic of Royal Copenhagen's earliest pieces. This item dates to approx. 1790.
It bears the "Three Waves" mark and the painter's mark of Friderich Gregorius Schaltz, who worked as a blue painter from 1780 to 1837.
